DESIGNA partner wins IPA Award for the best parking management system

PM ABACUS System brings coveted prize to DESIGNA partner DAA

Kiel, 24th November 2008: Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) has won the Irish Parking Association’s best parking management system award.
Since 1995 the IPA has awarded the coveted prizes for excellent achievement in the parking industry sector. “The prize for the best parking management system as exemplified by the Dublin Airport Authority project is a great honour. It is recognition of the strong cooperation with our partners and local team,” commented DESIGNA’s Sales Manager, Stefan Koch.

At the remodelled Dublin Airport, DESIGNA installed a fully networked PM ABACUS system as part of the €2,500000 plus contract. The complete car park system left such a lasting impression in Ireland, that DESIGNA is now able to accept this accolade after a follow-up order for Shannon Airport, Ireland’s second largest airport.
The parking management system at Dublin Airport has been operating since December 2006. The area covers 17,700 short and long-stay parking spaces, 184 waiting bays for taxis and 5,600 parking spaces for airport personnel. This makes the project the second largest of its type after the car park management system in Malaysia.

The system at Dublin Airport is due to commence operation at the end of November. The overall area includes 50 parking spaces for tour coaches, 800 spaces for airport employees and 4,000 short and long-stay parking spaces for passengers. The number of travellers, who increasingly fly with Ryanair, is rising steadily.

“The PM ABACUS system offers the Irish a dynamic and flexible system that can be upgraded to meet new demands without a great deal of expense and effort,” added Stefan Koch.
